FARGO, ND - The RedHawks bats exploded for eight runs in the sixth inning of Saturday afternoon's matchup against Sioux Falls to help lead the home team to a 14-6 win over the Canaries.
Fargo-Moorhead scored 14 runs on 14 hits today, including five hits from newcomers Carlos Garcia and Alex Boxwell, who made their RedHawks debuts today.
Yhoxian Medina hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give the RedHawks their first lead of the game, and Correlle Prime picked up his 15th home run of the year two innings later to give Fargo-Moorhead three more insurance runs.
Sioux Falls briefly took the lead in the sixth, but the RedHawks came back with 12 runs in the sixth and seventh to take control of the game and put it out of reach.
Bret Helton earned his fifth win of the season, bringing his record to 5-5 on the season after 6 innings of work and giving up two earned runs and picking up a strikeout. Carter Hope managed to do something you don't see everyday, and picked up a 3-inning save.
All in all, the RedHawks clubbed 29 runs on 38 hits in the three-game series against Sioux Falls.
The RedHawks have won six straight and 10 of their last 12 games, as well as back to back series. Fargo-Moorhead sits 4.5 games ahead of St. Paul for the North Division lead with 14 games remaining for the RedHawks. The Saints face off with Lincoln later tonight.
Fargo-Moorhead will open up a three-game series against the Gary SouthShore RailCats Sunday night at Newman Outdoor Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
