FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks got off a two-game schneid with an 11-4 win over the Joliet JackHammers Friday night at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 4,112 fans. RedHawks starter RHP Garry Bakker (5-5) pitched 6.0 innings and gave-up three runs (one earned) for his fifth win of the season.

In the second inning, RedHawks RF Jeremiah Piepkorn hit a deuces wild double and C Alan Rick singled him home to open the scoring.

LF Justin Justice led off the third with a seeing-eye-single just out of the grasp of JackHammers 2B Wally Backman, Jr. Justice ran on a 1-0 offering from Sevier and DH Mike Coles drew the walk. With no outs, runners in scoring position and the RedHawks poised for a big-inning, SS Zach Penprase and CF Nic Jackson teamed-up for a pair of RBI singles to stake the RedHawks a 4-0 lead.

The JackHammers got on the board in the fourth. CF Adam Klein singled to dead-center and reached second on a wild pitch by Bakker. Clean-up hitter LF Brad Correll singled him home and the JackHammers crept within three runs. JackHammers starter RHP Nate Sevier issued a walk to 1B Ruben Salazar, C Alan Rick doubled and the RedHawks benefited from a defensive miscue for a 5-1 fifth-inning lead.

Klein legged out a drag bunt and reached second on a bloop single by SS Kevin Rios. RF Joe Gaetti got a second chance on a dropped foul by RedHawks 1B Randall Simon and hit an RBI double to make it 5-3. In the sixth, the JackHammers benefited from a throwing error by Salazar and crept within a run on a RBI single by Rios.

In the eighth, Cota cracked a lead-off single and swiped second. With runners at first and third, Penprase was plunked and Jackson doubled to left to plate Cota and Coles. Simon capped the scoring with a two-run big fly to make it 11-4. RedHawks reliever RHP T.J. Stanton pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the game.

The RedHawks look to continue the JackHammers road woes tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field. RHP Nick Fellman (4-5, 4.72) will get the ball for the RedHawks. Game time is 6:00 p.m.
