Redemption for Weatherby, Acey Cycles in Extra-Inning Win

TUCSON, AZ - After blowing a four-run lead in the ninth, Charlie Weatherby singled home the game-winner in the 11th inning of the St. George RoadRunners' 10-8 victory on the road over Tucson.

The pitcher also earned the win (2-1) retiring six straight in the 10th and 11th frames.

Franchise history was made on Friday night/Saturday morning as second baseman Jermy Acey hit for the cycle. He homered in the third, doubled in the seventh, tripled in the ninth and singled in the 11th enroute to a 4-for-5 night at the dish. He also tied a franchise record scoring five runs.

The St. George offense had 16 hits with eight going for extra-bases.

Emiliano Fruto (1-1) dropped the decision allowing two runs on five hits over two innings pitched.

Starter Brian Holliday tossed 6.2 innings allowing four runs while Monte Mansfield struck out three in relief.

In addition to Acey's historic night offensively, Brett Flowers homered and doubled for 2 RBI. Carlos Sosa and C.J. Lang each added two hits.

Game two is set for Saturday night at 8:00pm Mountain. Raymar Diaz looks to improve to 3-0. The RoadRunners will be opposed by RHP John Bannister.

NOTES: Start of the game was delayed 1one hour and 47 minutes due to travel complications the Toros encountered getting from Chico... With his cycle, Acey extended both his current streaks - on-base to 17 games, hitting to 13 games... Darrell Evans was ejected in Mid 11th for arguing a call involving Lang being deemed outside the base line running from first to second... Attendance was 6,681 - the largest road crowd in which the RoadRunners have played.
