Toros Suffer 10-8 Loss in Extra Innings After Late Rally

Tucson, AZ - After arriving almost 2 hours late because of travel delays, the Toros battled late into the night but suffered a 10-8 11thinning loss to the St. George RoadRunners Friday night.

The RoadRunners jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning in after a two run RBI double by CF Yosvany Almario. Tucson got on the board in the bottom of the 1st frame after centerfielder Josh Womack hit a lead off triple, one of two lead off triples by the Toros in the first two innings. Womack now leads the GBL with 5 triples on the season.

The RoadRunners added a run in the 3rd inning with an RBI single by 3B Henry Calderon. 2B Jermy Acey and 1B Brett Flowers each crushed a home run over the left field wall in the top of the 3rd to go up 5-2. St. George would add a run in the 4th inning to go up 6-2.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, Rightfielder Victor Ferrante smashed a towering homerun over the leftfield scoreboard to bring the Tucson within 3. The RoadRunners continued to build on their lead by adding a run in the 7thinning. Tucson would capitalize once again with run by pinch hitter Brian Bistange in the bottom of the 7th frame.

Down by four going into the 9th, the Toros rallied to tie it at 8 with each of the first 5 Tucson batters providing a hit to take it into extra innings where the Roadrunners would eventually push across the winning runs in the top of the 11th.
