MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis shutout Oklahoma City 2-0 Monday night at AutoZone Park to earn a series split.
Ryan Jackson drew a walk with the bases loaded to plate Skip Schumaker in the first inning and take control of the game. The score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth when Zack Cox hit his first home run of the season into the Redbirds bullpen and extend the 'Birds lead 2-0.
Brian Broderick earned the win for Memphis with six scoreless innings. The right-hander scattered five hits and fanned six for his first win of the year. The 'Birds bullpen combined for three perfect innings while fanning another four batters. Aneury Rodrigues was pinned with the loss after allowing one run on five hits in five innings of work.
The 'Birds begin a four-game series against New Orleans tomorrow night with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Memphis send right-hander Joe Kelly to the mound to face southpaw Wade LeBlanc.
