Iowa Cubs News Release

Round Rock, TX - The Chicago Cubs activated Iowa IF Edgar Gonzalez from the disabled list today and reassigned OF Ty Wright to double-A Tennessee. Gonzalez will be available for tonight's game at Round Rock.

Gonzalez was on Iowa's Opening Day roster and was 1-for-4 on Opening Night against the Express, but went on the disabled list on April 8 with a sore right calf. The Cubs signed Gonzalez as a minor league free agent on December 20, 2011. He hit .315 with 14 homers and 82 RBI for Fresno (AAA-San Francisco Giants) last season. He has 193 games of major league experience with the San Diego Padres in 2008-09. He is the older brother of Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

Wright was batting .258 (8-for-31) with no homers and two RBI in nine games this season.

The Cubs wrap up their four-game series at Dell Diamond tonight at 7:05. RH Casey Coleman (1-1, 4.50) will start for the Cubs. The game will be broadcast live on AM 940 with the pre-game show starting at 6:45.
