TONIGHT'S GAME: The Red Wings host the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Phillies) on Independence Day (7:15 pm) to open a 2-game series and a 7-game, 6-day homestand. After sweeping their brief 2-game set in Pawtucket, the Wings have rattled off 5 straight wins to move within 2.5 games of Syracuse in the IL North . The Wings are 7-2 over their last 9 games to extend their Wild Card lead to 3.0 games over Columbus. Lehigh Valley - in 5th place in the North (9.0 GB) - has won 3 straight following an 8-game span in which they went just 1-7.

-The Wings' 49 wins so far this season are 2nd most in the IL (SYR, 51) and 4th most in all of Triple-A baseball.

WITH A WIN TODAY, THE WINGS WILL...:

- Extend their winning streak to 6 games -- their longest since a season-high 7-game streak May 13-19.

- Win their 50th game of the season on or before July 4th for the first time since 1997 (won #50 on July 4th)...In 2006, the Wings won their 50th in Game #87 on July 6. Last season, the Wings won #50 on July 13 in their 98th game.

A PERFECT TRIP: With Alex Meyer (6.0 IP, 3 H, R/ER) earning the victory on Thursday night over Pawtucket, Wings starters have completed a perfect trip through the rotation with all 5 starters earning the victory over the last 5 games . Over this span, the starters (in order, Darnell, Diamond, Johnson, Gilmartin & Meyer) have posted a 2.90 ERA (10 ER/31.0 IP). This is the second time in as many seasons that the Wings staff has accomplished this feat. Prior to last season, the Wings hadn't had a perfect trip through the rotation since 1998. Only Logan Darnell has been a part of both perfect trips through the rotation over the last two seasons.

- Last season, L. Hendriks, A. Albers, L. Darnell, V. Vasquez and P.J. Walters won 5 consecutive starts from July 25-29.

DARNELL DAZZLES: Southpaw Logan Darnell makes his 15th start of the season on Friday night and his 8th at Frontier Field where he is 3-1 with a 2.29 ERA (10 ER/39.1 IP). In his last start (6/29 vs. NOR), Darnell turned in his second career complete-game (9 IP, 9 H, R/ER, HR, BB, 3 SO) and his first since June 20, 2013 in his last start at Double-A New Britain . Darnell hadn't even completed 7.0 innings in a start this season prior to Sunday when he needed just 106 pitches (72 strikes) to finish off the Tides. Darnell joins Yohan Pino as the only two Wings to throw 9-inning CG's this season as Rochester does lead the IL with 6 CG on the year.

- In 4 GS vs. LHV is 2-1, 1.31 ERA (3 ER/20.2 IP)...Won his first career Triple-A game against LHV on 7/22/13 (6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R)

- Prior to Sunday's start, Darnell had posted a 5.23 ERA (12 ER/20.2 IP) over his last 4 starts with 17 walks in 20.2 IP.

DOUBLE DUDES: The Wings have collected 24 doubles over their last 7 games and have 63 total doubles over their last 23 games to move into 1st in the IL with 179 on the season . 3B Deibinson Romero leads ROC with 22 doubles - which is good for T-3rd in the IL. The Wings rank 9th in triples with 16 and 10th in home runs with 56.

- The Wings have collected at least one extra-base hit in a season-high 43 consecutive games .

BLOSSOMING IN THE FLOWER CITY: INF Doug Bernier has 5 homers on the season - the 2nd highest total for any season in his career (9 in 2008 w/ Colorado Springs). Bernier has 8 HR in 163 career games with the Red Wings after hitting just one HR in his previous 301 IL games with SWB and IND . Over his first 163 career games with ROC, Bernier is hitting .295 (152-516) with 79 RBI...Over the prior 301 games (2009-2012) in the league, Bernier hit just .216 (193-892) with 74 RBI.

- Bernier is hitting a team-best .397 (23-58) w/ RISP this season & his hitting .331 (50-151) w/ RISP over 2 years w/ ROC.

- 29% of Bernier's HR's (8 of 28) have come with ROC in 163 games which is just 14% of his 1,125 career MiLB games.

MORE ABOUT LAST NIGHT...:

- Alex Meyer has turned in 2 straight "quality starts" after a 3-start stretch in which he pitched a total of 8.2 IP.

- The bottom third of the Wings lineup went collected all 4 hits, scored both runs and drove home both runs. Over the last two games, the bottom third of the order is 12-for-24 (.500) with 5 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 7 R and 8 RBI.

- Ryan Pressly notched the Wings 17th save in their last 19 opportunities after beginning the year just 6-for-11 in SV opps
