Red Stars' Kosovare Asllani Out 3-4 Weeks With Fractured Rib

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. -- The Chicago Red Stars of Women's Professional Soccer announced Friday that midfielder and forward Kosovare Asllani will be out for several weeks with a fractured rib. Asllani suffered the injury during the early minutes of Chicago's 1-0 loss to 2009 WPS champion Sky Blue FC on Sunday at Toyota Park.

Red Stars medical staff said Asllani would be out approximately 3-4 weeks from the occurence of the injury last Sunday. She injured her rib when she collided with Sky Blue goalkeeper Karen Bardsley in the 2nd minute of the match, but Asllani would play for the full 90 minutes.

Asllani is not traveling with the Red Stars (0-2-1) for their road match against the Boston Breakers (1-0-2) on Saturday.

On Wednesday, the Red Stars cleared midfielder Megan Rapinoe to play following her recovery from mononucleosis. Rapinoe missed the team's first three matches this season, but she is rostered for Saturday's match, which takes place at 5 p.m. CT at Harvard Stadium.

Chicago's next home match takes place at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 15, against the expansion Philadelphia Independence at Toyota Park. The match is part of the Red Stars Family Four-Pack ticket series, and fans can participate in Photo Day and snap pictures with their favorite Red Stars.
