Red Sox Slugger Trevor Story Shines Against Yard Goats

Portland, ME: Red Sox infielder Trevor Story made the most of his Major League rehab assignment with a single, double, home run, and drove in three runs, leading the Sea Dogs to a 9-0 win on Thursday night at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. Story played his second consecutive game against Hartford trying to recover from an injured wrist. After scoring 12 runs on Tuesday, the Yard Goats have been shutout the past two games.
The Sea Dogs scored two runs in the first inning off Hartford starter Mitch Kilkenny. After a leadoff walk, Ceddanne Rafaela belted a double, scoring David Hamilton to make it 1-0. Trevor Story followed with an RBI single and Rafaela scored and it was 2-0 Portland.
Portland added five runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. The rally included a double by Trevor Story and two-run homer by Izzy Wilson. The Sea Dogs got back to back home runs in the fourth inning to make it 9-0. Nick Northcut belted a solo home run into the Maine Monster netting. and Trevor Story followed by homering into the monster for his final hit of the night.
Sea Dogs starter Sterling Sharp, who has Major League experience, pitched well in six scoreless innings. He allowed just five singles with a walk and six strikeouts to earn his first win with Portland.
The Yard Goats and Sea Dogs play the fourth of a six-game series on Friday night (6:00) at Hadlock Field in Portland, Maine. RHP Tony Locey will start for the Yard Goats and LHP Shane Drohan will start for Portlland. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410 WPOP, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Donuts Park on Tuesday night to host Reading at 7:05.
