Summary
Tanner Bibee fans 10 over six innings of one run ball and Jhonkensy Noel launches a three-run home run and RBI triple to guide the Akron RubberDucks to a 5-2 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
Akron looked to get the offense going early in first inning when Jose Tena doubled and Bryan Lavastida singled to put runners on the corners with no outs. Jhonkensy Noel quickly brought both runners home with a three-run home run just left of the clock in center field to make it 3-0 RubberDucks.
Mound Presence
Tanner Bibee got the start for Akron and was dominant. Bibee did not allow a hit until the fifth inning and just three total on his way to six innings allowing one run while striking out 10. Luis Oviedo followed with an inning and two thirds allowing one run while striking out three. Mason Hickman followed with an inning and a third scoreless punching out two to pick up the save.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks added on in the second when Tena lined a single into right to score Raynel Delgado and make it 4-0 Akron. Noel came up big again for the Akron offense in the eighth inning when he tripled into right field to score Tena from first and make it 5-2 RubberDucks.
Notebook
15 combined strikeouts for the Akron pitchers brings the season total to 1,190, which ties the 2021 RubberDucks pitching staff for most in franchise history...Bibee struck out 10 for the third time this season, but first time at Double-A...Noel's homer was his first since July 28...Game Time: 2:27...Attendance: 3,311.

The RubberDucks will continue their series with the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Friday, August 26 at 7:05 p.m. at Canal Park.
