Red Claws To Take On Los Angeles, Sioux Falls In First Showcase Appearance

PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, will face the Los Angeles D-Fenders and the Sioux Falls Skyforce in their first-ever appearance in the NBA D-League Showcase. The annual Showcase will be held January 4-7, 2010 at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho.
Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will play two games during the four-day Showcase. The event is an opportunity for general managers, player personnel staff and scouts from each of the 30 NBA teams and the international basketball community to evaluate talent from across the league.
The Red Claws will face the D-Fenders at 1:45 PM on Monday, January 4, in the only meeting between the Lakers' and Celtics' affiliates during the 2009-10 season. Maine will then take on Sioux Falls on Tuesday, January 5 at 11 AM. Tickets for the four-day event can be purchased for $25. Red Claws fans will also be able to watch all of the action live at nba.com/futurecast.
"The Showcase is an opportunity for players throughout the league to show their skills in front of personnel from across the NBA," said Red Claws President and General Manager Jon Jennings. "The NBA D-League is unique in that with the exception of the players already under NBA contract, any player can be signed by any NBA team at any time. The NBA D-League Showcase is a tremendous opportunity for players to catch the eye of scouts who might not otherwise get the chance to see them."
