Rory White Coaching Team NBA at Asia Challenge

BISMARCK, N.D., August 6, 2009 - New Dakota Wizards head coach Rory White will travel to Asia this week to coach a team made up of NBA legends along with six NBA D-League players from this past season in the Asia Challenge.

White, who was hired by the Wizards in July, will be assisted by Los Angeles Lakers assistant and NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. They will coach a team made up of NBA legends Dominique Wilkins, Vlade Divac, Robert Horry, and Tim Hardaway. Former Wizards Billy Thomas (Colorado) and Marcus Hubbard (Rio Grande Valley) will join Derrick Dial (Tulsa), Chris Ellis (Sioux Falls), Russell Robinson (Reno) and Lanny Smith (Idaho) will join the NBA legends to round out the ten-man roster.

"This is a great opportunity for myself and the D-League players," said White. "With part of our team made up of NBA greats and the other made up of hopefully future NBA greats from the Development League, this will be a great opportunity to showcase the talent in the D-League."

White will travel to Asia on September 1st. The team will begin play in Korea on September 5th against the KBL All-Stars in Seoul, before returning to action on September 6 in Incheon against the ETIiland Backslammers. The team then closes out the Asia Challenge in the Philippines on September 11 against the PBA All-Stars before returning stateside.
