66ers Player Derrick Dial Travels to Asia Challenge

Tulsa, Okla., September 1, 2009 - Tulsa 66ers guard Derrick Dial was among six other NBA Development League players selected to Team NBA and participate in the NBA's 2009 Asia Challenge.

The team is made up of NBA legends Dominique Wilkins, Vlade Divac, Robert Horry and Tim Hardaway, as well as Dial, Billy Thomas (Colorado), Marcus Hubbard (Rio Grande Valley), Chris Ellis (Sioux Falls), Russell Robinson (Reno) and Lanny Smith (Idaho) from the D-League. The head coach will be new Dakota Wizards head coach Rory White. He will be assisted by Los Angeles Lakers special assistant coach and basketball Hall-of-Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Team NBA is accompanied by New Jersey Nets mascot Sly Fox and six members of the Nets dance team.

Dial played in 47 games for the 66ers during the 2008-09 regular season, averaging 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per contest. He recorded his NBA D-League high 24 points twice, the last on April 10 at Albuquerque, where Dial shot 8-for-12 from the field.

Dial recorded two double-doubles during the 08-09 regular season, a 16-point, 12-assist effort at Bakersfield on December 11 and a 19-point, 10-rebound game at Fort Wayne on April 5.

The team will play exhibition games in Korea and the Philippines starting September 5 against the KBL All-Stars in Seoul. They will then take on the Etlilans Backslammers in Incheon on September 6. The team closes out the Asia Challenge in the Philippines on September 11 against the PBA All-Stars.
