FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution suffered a 2-0 loss today at Gillette Stadium in the teams' final match before the Major League Soccer break for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Goals from Eric Alexander and Peguy Luyindula helped the Red Bulls hand the Revs their second straight loss.
While the loss was New England's (7-5-2, 23 pts.) first at home in the 2014 season, the Revs remained in first place in the Eastern Conference after the weekend. With the victory, the Red Bulls (4-5-6, 18 pts.) recorded their first regular-season win at Gillette Stadium since June 29, 2002 - a span of almost 12 years.
New England next action comes in the fourth round of the 2014 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 18. The Revolution will travel to face the Richmond Kickers (USL PRO) at City Stadium in Richmond, Virginia.
The Revolution next sees MLS action on June 28, when they host the Philadelphia Union at Gillette Stadium.
