
Red Bulls Face off against D.C. United in First Leg of the Atlantic Cup

HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls (5-3-5, 20 pts.) face off against D.C. United (4-6-2, 14 pts.) in the first leg of the Atlantic Cup on Saturday, May 28 at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG+, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
Coverage on MSG+ begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with the Red Bulls Pregame show. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing and Michelle Gingras.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET.
This will be the 85th overall regular season meeting between New York and D.C., with D.C. United holding the advantage in the overall series with a 37-31-16 mark. The Red Bulls bounced back after the 2-0 loss to Inter Miami CF on May 22 by defeating Charlotte FC, 3-1, on Wednesday to advance to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals for the 10th time in franchise history. D.C. United are winless in their last four matches across all competitions and are coming off a 2-2 draw against Toronto FC on May 21.
New York defeated D.C. United, 3-0, in the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup on May 10. Forward Zach Ryan and defender John Tolkin each scored their first career Open Cup goals and midfielder Luquinhas added a goal and an assist as well. Luquinhas has tallied three goals and five assists this season across all competitions.
Red Bulls forward Patryk Klimala scored the fastest goal by a Red Bulls player in franchise history for a U.S. Open Cup match. Klimala has scored four goals over his last 190 minutes played across all competitions, including his goal in the second minute on Wednesday. The Polish striker tallied the game-winning assist on Dylan Nealis's goal in the match. Klimala has recorded five goals and three assists across all competitions for New York this season.
Following Saturday's match, the FIFA international break will run through June 14. New York will travel to face Charlotte FC for their first-ever MLS match at Banc of America Stadium on Saturday, June 11. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET with coverage on ABC and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
