Austin FC News Release
Austin, TEXAS - U.S. Soccer announced today that Austin FC midfielder Owen Wolff has been named to the U-19 United States Men's Youth National Team (USMYNT) for its upcoming training camp and friendlies against England and Norway from May 31 to June 10 in Marbella, Spain. The call-up is Wolff's first to the U-19 USMYNT under new Head Coach Marko Mitrovic.
"We're extremely proud of Owen for the work ethic and maturity he has shown when competing with both the Austin FC first team and Academy, and this call-up is a reflection of all his hard work," said Austin FC Sporting Director Claudio Reyna. "The opportunity to represent your country is a great honor, and we congratulate Owen on this amazing achievement."
Wolff, 17, became Austin FC's first Homegrown signing in September 2021, and was the first Homegrown player to appear in a match for the Verde & Black in the team's 3-1 win over Sporting Kansas City on November 3, 2021. On May 18, 2022, Wolff earned his first career start against Los Angeles FC, becoming the first Homegrown player to start a match for the Club and the fourth-youngest player to start an MLS match this season.
Across six (6) MLS regular season appearances for Austin FC in 2022, Wolff has passed at an 88.9 percent success rate and registered seven (7) key passes. Wolff is the fourth Austin FC player called to a U.S. youth national team camp this year, joining Bryan Arellano (U-19), Micah Burton (U-17), and Ervin Torres (U-15).
