In the last match between New York and D.C. United, they battled to a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena on September 11. Midfielder Dru Yearwood scored his first career MLS goal in the match. In matches that Yearwood has played 90 minutes this season, the Red Bulls have recorded a 3-0-0 mark. D.C. United are currently in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. They are winless in their last four matches and are coming off a 6-0 defeat to New York City FC.
After starting the season with a 1-8-2 record on the road, New York has won their last four road matches, outscoring their opponents, 8-1, in those matches. The Red Bulls will look to extend their road winning streak to five matches for the first time since 2000, which extended from June 3 to July 15. New York's five road wins are the second most in the Eastern Conference and is tied for ninth most in franchise history.
New York Red Bulls midfielder Cristian Cásseres, Jr. has recorded a goal or an assist in four-straight matches, which is tied for the longest streak by a Red Bulls player this season. The Venezuelan midfielder has scored a goal in two-straight matches and earned the game-winning assist in New York's 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew on Saturday. He ranks first in the club for game-winning goals (3) and tied for second in game-winning assists (2).
With New York's win over Columbus on Saturday, they have extended their unbeaten streak to eight matches for the first time in a single season since 2016. During the unbeaten streak, New York has only conceded three goals, which is the lowest in MLS, with the next lowest being six goals allowed by Atlanta United FC. The Red Bulls are 4-0-0 in October, which is tied for most wins in the month of October in franchise history (2015). They have had four different game-winning goal scorers in Andrew Gutman, Patryk Klimala, Cásseres, Jr., and Sean Nealis.
Following Wednesday's match, New York will start a two-match homestand, beginning with CF Montreal on Saturday, October 30. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on MSG, MSG GO, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
