Seattle Sounders FC News Release
SEATTLE, WASH. - Following a 2-1 home loss at the hands of Sporting Kansas City this past weekend, Seattle Sounders FC (31-17-7, 58 points) faces a quick turnaround as it hits the road to take on LAFC (11-12-8, 41 points) on Tuesday, October 26 (7:30 p.m. PT / ESPN, KJR 1090 AM, El Rey 1360 AM.)
Although LAFC's time in MLS is short, with 2018 being the club's first season, the rivalry between the two Western Conference teams could not be more intense. It started with LAFC's first-ever MLS match, a 1-0 win over Seattle at Lumen Field on March 4, 2018.
Seattle trails the all-time regular-season series by a 3-4-2 mark since 2018, including a 0-3-1 record at Banc of California Stadium. The two teams share an even goal differential of 12-12 during the regular season.
The postseason, however, is a different story, with the Rave Green outscoring LAFC 6-2 en route to a 2-0-0 record. The most memorable postseason victory came during the 2019 Western Conference Final that saw Seattle defeat LAFC 3-1 behind a goal from Nico Loderio and a brace from Raúl Ruidíaz. Seattle also defeated LAFC 3-1 last season in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs on its way to its fourth MLS Cup Final appearance in five years.
Following Tuesday's match against LAFC, Sounders FC returns to Seattle for its final home match of the season, facing the LA Galaxy on Monday, November 1 (7:00 p.m. PT / FOX 13+, TUDN, Prime Video, KJR 1090 AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
