Despite a second-half Daniel Royer equalizer, the New York Red Bulls (10-9-4, 34 pts) dropped three points to Columbus Crew SC (7-14-3, 24 pts), 3-2, on Saturday night at Red Bull Arena.

Brian White opened the game's ledger in the 15th minute as Marc Rzatkowski served a pass inside the box for White. With two guys on his back, White flicked the pass with his head to the near post for his eighth of the season.

Columbus Crew SC responded with back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 lead in the 46th minute.

Following a lengthy discussion of a foul inside the box, Royer was awarded a penalty kick in the 63rd minute after going to VAR. Royer finished to his left to level the match.

After a crucial save by Luis Robles, Columbus' Pedro Santos picked up the loose ball and scored the game winner in the 84th minute.

White tallied a goal for the second-straight match to remain tied for the clubhouse lead with eight goals.

White has tallied a goal in five of the last seven matches to move into a tie for 11th in MLS.

Royer converted his second penalty kick of the season to improve to a perfect 8-for-8 for his career. The Austrian winger moved into a tie with Bradley Wright-Phillips for third all-time in franchise history with eight penalty kick goals.

Royer remained tied with White for the team lead in goals with eight.

In the last six matches, Royer and White have combined to score nine of the last 12 New York goals.

Rzatkowski raised his assist season total to six. The German midfielder has recorded an assist in three of the last five games.

New York remains at Red Bull Arena as they welcome Toronto FC on Saturday, August 3. The Red Bulls-TFC match is slated for 6 p.m. EST with coverage on MSG, MSG Go, TSN and New York Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn.
