Last Time Against the Revs

The last time the Lions and Revolution faced off was earlier this season in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 16, with the Lions taking a 2-1 victory at Exploria Stadium. After a scoreless regulation, the two sides were forced into extra time where all three goals in the match were scored. Benji Michel and Tesho Akindele found the back of the net for the Lions in the 96th and 101st minutes respectively, with Justin Rennicks cutting the City lead in half in the 117th. The Lions would then go on to defeat NYCFC in penalty kicks in the Quarterfinals to advance to the Semifinal round.

Road Tested

The Lions are unbeaten in their last three road contests and have earned results in four of their last five matches on the road in league play. In that span, City have earned victories at Montreal and Columbus with draws at Philadelphia and Portland. Their lone loss came to D.C. United on June 26, in a 1-0 defeat off a near 70-yard finish from Wayne Rooney. In their last five matches on the road, the Lions hold a +4 goal differential, with two shutouts recorded in that time.

A Week for the Stars

Following their match in New England, five Lions will participate in MLS All-Star Week festivities leading up to the 2019 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target at Exploria Stadium. Benji Michel and Mason Stajduhar will represent City on Tuesday, July 30 at the 2019 MLS Homegrown Game at ESPN Wide World of Sports, with kickoff set for 5 p.m. Following that match, City captain Nani along with Chris Mueller and Sebastián Méndez will comprise City's team at the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge at 8 p.m. that same evening, facing off against representatives from both the MLS-All Stars and Atlético Madrid. Nani will then represent City once more as a member of the 2019 MLS All-Star team on Wednesday, July 31, when they face off against Atlético Madrid at 8 p.m. at Exploria Stadium.

On the Defensive

The Lions are on pace to allow the fewest goals in Club history, having only let in 29 goals through 22 games this season, good for fourth in the Eastern Conference. City's current Club-record is 56 goals allowed in its inaugural MLS season in 2015. If the Lions remain on the same course, they are set to allow less than 50 goals in the back of the net for the first time in Club history. The Lions are also just two shutouts away from tying a Club-record of seven, set in both 2015 and 2017.

Milestone Tracker

Sacha Kljestan's next assist, his 92nd in MLS, will give him sole possession of 8th in league history. Kljestan is currently tied with Cobi Jones, who played his entire MLS career with the Galaxy.

Dom Dwyer is one goal away from 80 in MLS.

Will Johnson is one appearance away from his 70th as a Lion.
