-The New York Red Bulls (15-11-8, 53 pts.) defeated Charlotte FC (13-18-3, 42 pts.) 2-0 on Sunday, October 9, at Red Bull Arena.

-New York opened the scoring in the eighth minute, as Elias Manoel sent in a shot after collecting a loose ball in the box after Lewis Morgan's shot was saved by Charlotte.

-The Red Bulls doubled the advantage in the 55th minute, as Manoel collected a pass from Frankie Amaya, turned and ripped a shot from outside the box.

-New York will enter the postseason for the 13th consecutive season and 23rd time in club history, which is tied for the longest streak in league history. It is also the longest active streak.

-The Red Bulls clinched a home playoff match for the first time since 2018 with the victory.

-Carlos Coronel recorded six saves in the match, which is tied for his season-high (July 17, New York City FC). He passed Jonny Walker for seventh in club history with 160 saves.

-The match marked his eighth clean sheet of the season and first since August 31. He has recorded 12 clean sheets at home during his New York career.

-Following Sunday's match, New York will host FC Cincinnati in the first round of the 2022 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs at Red Bull Arena, with time and date to be determined.
