Rebels Roar Early, Top Hitmen 6-2

Red Deer, AB - The Red Deer Rebels scored three times less than eight minutes into the first period en route to a 6-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Friday night at the ENMAX Centrium.

Brandon Hagel powered the Rebels attack with two goals and two assists. Jeff de Wit and Chris Douglas also scored twice for the Central Division leaders who built period leads of 4-0 and 5-1.

Calgary outshot Red Deer 45-23 but goaltender Ethan Anders made 43 saves to record the victory.

Luke Coleman, with his eighth of the season, and Mark Kastelic with his team leading 22nd provided the Hitmen goals.

Despite the setback Calgary caps their season high seven game road trip with a winning record going 4-2-0-1.

The Hitmen will now get set to play their first game at home in 20 days tomorrow, Saturday, Dec 1. The Edmonton Oil Kings will be at Scotiabank Saddledome for a 7:00 p.m. start.

Calgary then wraps up the weekend Sunday, Dec. 2 against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors. Game time is 4:00 p.m. at the 'Dome for Tim Hortons Timbits Hockey Day featuring a first intermission Timbits hockey game. It's also Sunday Funday where activities include face painters, concourse activities, giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday features a specially priced $9.99 ticket for kids 12 and under and a $14.99 ticket for adults (plus applicable fees and taxes).
