Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
St. Albert: Red Deer made their Oil Kings Pre-season Invitational Tournament appearance in Game 4. The Rebels were up against the Moose Jaw Warriors, who beat the Medicine Hat Tigers in the opening game.
The Rebels dominate early, and take a one nothing lead on Mathew Dumba's goal from the point. The goal comes just after the period's mid-point. The first is, by far, the most physical periodin the Tournament to this point. Red Deer is up 1 - 0, after one.
Warriors goalie Devan Dubyk makes a couple big stops early in the second frame, but Dumba beats him on the power play, for his second of the game, its 2 - 0. The Rebels keep pressing for more and John Persson scores to make it 3 - 0 after 2.
The third period is a saw off. Two Red Deer goalies, Darcy Kuemper and Kraymer Barnstable, combine for a 3 - 0 shutout of Moose Jaw.
The Oil Kings play the Swift Current Broncos tonight, at 7:00 pm. The Pre-season Tournament wraps up tomorrow, with the Regina Pats and Broncos playing at 3:00 pm. The Oil Kings host the Medicine Hat Tigers at 7:00 pm.
