Blades Take Exhibition Rematch

August 29, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades took the second game in a row against the Prince Albert Raiders in pre-season action, winning 6-2 on Friday night in Aberdeen.

Jamie Crooks, Darian Dziurzynski, Darren Dietz, Tyler Matheson, Travis Toomey, and Duncan Siemens all scored for the Blades.

Tyler Oswald (6 shots-5 saves) played the first period before being relieved by Matthew Krahn (11 shots-10 saves).

The Blades now get time off from exhibition action until next Saturday against the Medicine Hat Tigers again at the Aberdeen Recreation Complex.

BLADES GOAL OF THE GAME The Blades regained a three-goal lead in the second period on a pretty passing play between Matheson and Ryan Olsen. Matheson held the puck in the Raiders' left corner and passed to Olsen in the opposite corner. Olsen then returned the favour by threading the needle to Matheson, who had moved to the front of the net and proceeded to deposit a one-timer five-hole for a 4-1 Blades lead.

BLADES SAVE OF THE GAME Oswald sees through a screen to glove down a point shot from Raider defenseman Emerson Hrynyk in the first period.

BLADES HIT OF THE GAME Swedish import Hampus Gustafsson puts a firm shoulder into Raider defenseman Connor Sutton while forechecking in the first period, sending the rear guard to the ice.
