Real Snow is Coming to Pensacola this Holiday Season

PENSACOLA, FL. (November 26, 2013) - 5K Events and the Pensacola Ice Flyers are bringing up to 20,000 pounds of real snow to Old Seville Square and Bartram Park in Pensacola for the first Blizzard on the Beach 5K fun run and Snow Party Event will take place Saturday, December 7 beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m.

The 5K fun run participants can choose to run, jog or walk through a route that will take them through downtown Pensacola and along Pensacola Bay. During the 5K, the runners will pass twice through each of the three "Blizzard Zones" that will blow artificial snow on runners.

Up to 20,000 pounds of real snow will cover Old Seville Square and Bartram Park that will set the stage for a blizzard party. Kids can play in a separate snow play area and take part in snow-covered slides and sledding areas. Food together with sodas, water, hot chocolate and alcohol will be available. Santa Clause will also make an appearance and everyone can warm up at the warming station. These and other activities for all ages will be taking place to music played by a DJ in the park.

People do not have to register for the 5K fun run in order to take part in the snow event as separate Snow Play passes are available. Registration for the 5K is $30, with the price increasing to $35 after December 1. Snow Play tickets are $7 in advance and $10 day of. Discounted rates are also available for military, groups and children 12 and younger. Each 5K registration includes a free ticket to a Pensacola Ice Flyers regular season home game.

Its mission is to facilitate the investigation, prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect and promote child abuse prevention awareness through community education. In 2012, GCKH provided services to over 2300 child victims of abuse and neglect.

5K Events, is a Florida based company established to produce theme based 5K fun runs throughout the country. The Blizzard on the Beach is the first of its kind anywhere! Other upcoming events include the Rage 5K, a glow in the dark 5K dance party expected to arrive in Pensacola March 2014.

Pensacola Ice Flyers, is a professional hockey team playing in the Southern Professional Hockey League since 2009. The Ice Flyers won the 2012-13 SPHL President's Cup for the first time in April 2014, which was also the first professional team championship for Escambia County and the City of Pensacola.
