Real Salt Lake Signs RSL Academy Product Bode Davis

SANDY, Utah - Real Salt Lake has signed former RSL Academy standout and current Real Monarchs midfielder Bode Davis to a Homegrown contract, becoming the 22nd RSL Academy product RSL has signed to the first team. He will remain with the Monarchs for the 2020 season and join RSL's roster in 2021, the club announced today.

"Bode is a player who has excelled in our Academy and shown a lot of potential in multiple places on the field. He has shown versatility and has the physical attributes to take the next step," RSL General Manager Elliot Fall said. "We are excited by what we have seen at the USL level and excited to have him come in at the MLS level.

Davis, 18, graduated from the RSL Academy in spring of 2020 and made his debut with the Monarchs on July 11, playing 62 minutes against San Diego. He has one goal and two assists in 12 appearances in the USL Championship. With the RSL Academy, the Kaysville, Utah native appeared in 62 matches, 60 of which were starts. Primarily featuring on the wing or as a striker, Davis scored 18 goals at the Academy level.

"It's a dream come true to join a couple other kids that I grew up playing with in a place I call home," Davis said. "I just want to keep working and I look forward to playing for the fans at Rio Tinto Stadium."

Real Salt Lake currently has 11 RSL Academy products on its 2020 roster - goalkeeper David Ochoa; defenders Justen Glad, Aaron Herrera, Erik Holt and Donny Toia; midfielder Luis Arriaga; and forwards Corey Baird, Chris Garcia, Milan Iloski, Tate Schmitt and Julian Vazquez. In each of the last two seasons, RSL has led MLS in minutes played by its academy products totaling over 23,000 regular season minutes.
