HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs SLC have transferred the rights to goalkeeper Todd Morton to fellow USL Championship club Bethlehem Steel FC, the club announced today. The details and terms of Steel FC's acquisition of Morton's rights were not disclosed.
"We'd like to thank Todd for his contributions during his time with the club," Real Monarchs SLC General Manager Dan Egner said. "This move provides him an opportunity to gain some match experience with his hometown club. We wish him nothing but the best for his career."
Morton, 23, joined the Monarchs prior to the 2019 season after featuring for the University of Delaware and University of Maryland at Baltimore County from 2014 to 2018. At UMBC, Morton helped the team to a NCAA College Cup Final Four appearance before transferring to Delaware prior to the 2015 season. While at Delaware, Morton was a three-year letter winner with the Blue Hens and in 2018 started 14 matches. Across the 2016 and 2017 seasons, Morton started every match the Blue Hens played. Morton did not feature for the Monarchs during his time at the club.
Real Monarchs SLC returns home to face Switchbacks FC in a pivotal Four-Corners Cup clash on Friday, August 2 at 8:00p MT. The match is highlighted by the second Pups at the Pitch night where fans can bring their dogs to enjoy the match in Herriman.
