SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Friday, June 26, 2015) - Real Monarchs SLC arrived in Phoenix today in preparation for its second game in 48 hours Saturday night versus Arizona United SC in Scottsdale, AZ. Travel, rest, regeneration, and preparation all on the itinerary for Head Coach Freddy Juarez' team today after the Monarchs 0-1 loss last night at Seattle Sounders FC 2. Saturday's match is set for an 8:30 p.m. MT kickoff with the match being broadcast on RealMonarchs.com and Arizona United's YouTube page.

Real Monarchs (1-8-5, 8 points, 12th West) finishes out its heavy June road schedule with its initial visit to Phoenix to play Arizona United SC. Monarchs Captain Lucas Baldin said of the loss, "If there is one thing we did well [last night] it is being together. We talked about it, and it was the best game we played all together. [But] it was just one lapse of a moment." Real Monarchs out shot Sounders FC 2 23-14 in the match and forced S2 goalkeeper Charlie Lyon to make a season-high 10 saves but Real was unable to find the back of the net. S2's goal came in the 57th minute when a bad pass from DF Riley McGovern left DF Emilio Orozco defending 3-v-1. Pablo Rossi scored on the advantage making up for his missed PK in the first half.

Arizona United SC (5-6-1, 16 points, 8th West) are coming off a 2-1 win last Saturday night to Seattle Sounders FC 2. United went down early in the match when Nicholas Miele headed Rossi's cross for S2 only goal of the night. Arizona took over the match in the 40th minute when the 106-degree weather seemed to take its toll on the visitors. In the 59th minute Sounders DF Duncan McCormick was dismissed from the match with a red card. United immediately capitalized on the man-advantage scoring in the 60th and 63rd minutes and finishing with all three points.

Monarchs History v Arizona United SC

This will be the clubs' first ever meeting, while the clubs meet again on September 12th for Monarchs' final home game of the season.

Arizona United SC is only two hours away from the RSL-Arizona Academy, which is located Casa Grande, AZ. Monarchs have signed several former academy players that will be familiar with their Arizona opponent.

Two Matches in 48 Hours

This week's matches for Monarchs marks the first of three occasions this season the team will play two games in 48 hours, as the next two back-to-backs come in August when the club faces Tulsa Roughnecks on August 13th and Oklahoma Energy on August 15th, before facing Switchbacks FC on August 26th and Sounders FC 2 on August 28th.

In USL play, teams are allowed five substitutions during matches rather than the normal three per team. This rule is to help accommodate teams that play back-to-back series such as this week.

Historic Doubleheader on July 1

The club will return Sunday giving them two days to prepare for the historic doubleheader on Wednesday, when the Real Monarchs and Real Salt Lake will play back-to-back, at 5 p.m. MT and 8 p.m. MT respectively.

Monarchs will face Sacramento Republic FC for the second time at Rio Tinto Stadium - the last contest ending 1-0 in favor of Salt Lake. RSL enters the fifth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup facing fellow MLS club Portland Timbers. Wednesday's Open Cup match will be the return of Nat Borchers and Timbers first time to Salt Lake City in 2015.

Chris Schuler to Make Monarchs Debut?

On Friday, RSL head coach Jeff Cassar announced that he would send RSL DF Chris Schuler on a one-game loan to Real Monarchs for tomorrow's match vs. Arizona United. Schuler, who is recovering from surgery on his meniscus in early May, is slowly making his way back to fitness. Cassar said, "He needs games...it's a good opportunity for him."

Real Monarchs always knew that the club would not only help get younger RSL players get minutes but also help injured players get back into fitness. Schuler will be a good addition to the back line for Saturday's match due to the club's short turnaround from Thursday's match in Seattle.
