Tukwila, Washington (Thursday, June 25, 2015) - Real Monarchs put together arguably its best team performance this season but have no points to show from it. With 12 shots in the first half alone Monarchs came out strong but one bad pass led to Seattle Sounders FC 2's game-winning goal and all three points as Seattle won 1-0. Real has a quick turn around with a game in 48 hours in Scottsdale, AZ versus Arizona United SC.

Real Monarchs started the match very aggressively and had the chance to put the game away with 2 near-chances from FW Emery Welshman. The first came in the 7th minute when DF Riley McGovern got wide and whipped in a cross that found Welshman's header which went just over the bar. Two minutes later the Guyanese had a clear chance behind the defense and elected to try a shot between Seattle goalkeeper Charlie Lyon's legs which was blocked to keep the game level at zero.

Sounders FC 2 had its first chance to score in the 24th minute when DF Darion Copeland was whistled for a takedown in the box. Pablo Rossi stepped up to take the spot kick and sailed it high over the goal. The match stayed even throughout the half with Monarchs outshooting S2 12-9 through the first 45 minutes.

Sounders 2 broke the dead lock in the 57th minute when a bad pass from McGovern left DF Emilio Orozco defending three-against-one. Andy Craven's cutback pass found the wide-open Rossi who smashed it past GK Lalo Fernandez.

In a strange twist S2 conceded another indirect corner for a back pass to the keeper in the 65th minute. Seattle conceded its first last Tuesday, June 16th in U.S. Open Cup play versus Real Monarchs parent club Real Salt Lake. In tonight's match FW Max Rauhofer took the pass and tried to blast it into the top corner but Lyon made the save pushing him closer to his all time high 10 saves.

Monarchs pushed everyone forward for the final 20 minutes of play and saw 7 more shots in that time. Monarchs final chance came when MF Lucas Baldin's cross was headed away but the captain tracked back down swinging the ball in but Lyon swatted it away and gave up its sixth and final corner. Fernandez came up to the attacking half for the game's final play but Lyon pulled the corner down and the ref brought the game to a close.

Real Monarchs end the night with 23 shots and 10 on goal while Sounders came up with 14 shots and 5 on goal.

The team will travel to Phoenix tomorrow to prepare for Saturday's contest versus Arizona United SC in Scottsdale. Real will return Sunday giving them two days to prepare for the historic double header on July 1st when the Real Monarchs and Real Salt Lake will play back-to-back, at 5 p.m. MT and 8 p.m. MT respectively.
