Reading Drops Sunday Contest to Somerset

May 22, 2022 - Eastern League (EL) - Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Somerset Patriots, 6-2, in a hot Sunday contest.

Reading struck first as Logan O'Hoppe doubled home Aldrem Corredor.

The Patriots Anthony Volpe smashed a home run out to left to tie it up quickly.

Somerset took the lead in the bottom of the fifth as a sacrifice fly from Max Burt scored former R-Phil Rodolfo Duran.

They added another one in the sixth again with a sac fly off the bat of Blake Perkins making it 3-1.

In the seventh, Somerset scored once more with back-to-back doubles from Burt and Oliver Dunn. The final score was 4-1.

Bubby Rossman got the start allowing just two hits including the homer to Volpe. McKinley Moore threw two clean innings of work first out of the bullpen. Braden Zarbnisky took an inning of work letting up a run on one hit. Erik Miller got two outs in the sixth but with the bases loaded let up a run. Ofreidy Gomez finished up the frame with a groundout to third. He took the seventh allowing a run. Brian Marconi finished the game.
