(READING, PA) -- After right-hander Landon Jacobsen and Taylor Buchholz dueled to a scoreless tie through seven innings Wednesday, the Reading Phillies rallied against the Altoona Curve bullpen for a 2-1 victory at First Energy Stadium.

Jorge Padilla roped a two-out double to left center to score pinch-runner Uriel Casillas in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Reading (36-38) the victory. Altoona (42-33) failed to go eleven games above .500 for the first time in franchise history.

Josh Bonifay's RBI single in the top of the eighth off reliever Yoel Hernandez (4-0) gave the Curve a 1-0 lead.

A lead-off home run by Carlos Ruiz in the bottom of the inning tied it against Altoona lefty Mike Gonzalez.

The Curve loaded the bases against Hernandez in the ninth only to have Jose Castillo ground into an inning-ending double play.

With two out in the bottom of the ninth, Curve reliever Neal McDade (1-6) issued a four-pitch walk to Aaron McNeal. Casillas was inserted to pinch run and he scored from first on Padilla's game-winning stroke.

Ronny Paulino led the Curve with three hits. Bonifay and Shawn Garrett had two safeties apiece for Altoona and Kevin Nicholson extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a first inning double.

The rubber game of the series in Reading is Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Curve lefty Mike Connolly (4-6, 3.82) will be opposed by R-Phils' right-hander Willie Glen (1-0, 2.97).
