LEXINGTON, Ky. - RiverDogs starter Shane Greene hummed 6.0 solid innings, and Gary Sanchez delivered a two-run home run in his full-season debut, as Charleston defeated Lexington, 6-1, in front of 7,999 fans in Opening Night South Atlantic League action at Whitaker Bank Ballpark Thursday evening.

The RiverDogs have now defeated Lexington on consecutive Opening Nights, taking 2010's tilt by a 5-2 final at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. This also marks the fourth season-opening victory in the last five seasons for the franchise.

Charleston (1-0) scored a pair of two-out runs in the second inning against Lexington (0-1) starter Mike Foltynewicz to take a 2-0 lead. Kelvin De Leon smacked a RBI single to left, while Kyle Roller cranked a RBI double to the wall in left-centerfield to gain the advantage.

Lexington trimmed the deficit to 2-1 in the third off Greene on a RBI groundout by Jiovanni Mier which scored Bryce Lane. Lane led off the inning with an infield single and moved to second on a throwing error, making the only Legends' run unearned

That's all Greene (1-0) let score over his 6.0 solid innings, allowing just the one unearned run on three hits while walking none and fanning two. Greene, who started four games for Charleston at the end of 2010, retired 10 straight at one point and kept Lexington out of scoring position after the third inning.

The RiverDogs revved up the engine for a three-run fifth to put the game out of reach, capped off by a mammoth two-run home run from Sanchez in lengthening the lead to 5-1. Sanchez, the Yankees No. 2 prospect according to *Baseball America, *finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored to anchor the offense.

Foltynewicz (0-1) permitted five runs on six hits in 5.0 innings with a walk and two strikeouts.

Ramon Flores drove home his first run of the season with a RBI groundout in the eighth, upping the margin to 6-1.

Danny Burawa entered the game for Charleston in the seventh and worked 3.0 hitless innings to notch his first SAL save.

Roller joined Sanchez with a two-hit game to pace Charleston's nine-hit attack, while Mier had two of Lexington's five total hits.

Game two of the series, set for Friday at 7:05 p.m. features the SAL debut of RiverDogs' southpaw Nik Turley (0-0, 0.00 ERA) against Lexington right-hander Tanner Bushue (0-0, 0.00 ERA), who was the Legends opening night starter in 2010 against the RiverDogs at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
