Rochester RazorSharks News Release
(Rochester, N.Y.)Å The Rochester RazorSharks face an important early season test this week as they meet the two leaders of the American Basketball Association's Connie Hawkins Division. The RazorSharks (5-2, third place) travel to Scranton, PA to meet the Northeast Pennsylvania Breakers (6-1, first place) on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00 p.m. Rochester returns to The Blue Cross Arena this Saturday, December 10 to host SU great Lawrence Moten and the Maryland Nighthawks (8-2, second place) at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are available at The Blue Cross Arena Box office, all TicketMaster locations, via phone by calling (585) 232-1900 or on the internet at www.ticketmaster.com.
NE Penn features 6'11", 320-lb center Ron Rollerson (Temple), a draft pick of the Seattle SuperSonics in 2002. The Breakers beat the Buffalo Rapids 155-108 last Saturday night at home. The Maryland Nighthawks, with Moten starring on the front line, also feature three high-scoring guards - Randy Gill, Frank McQueen and Anton Jenifer - who combined scored 61 points in a 114-94 win over Harlem last week.
PLAYER MOVES: The RazorSharks, coming off a 10-day layoff, have invited 6'9" forward/center Alvin Jefferson (Auburn) and 6'3" guard Chris Williams (Ball St.) to work out with the team. Jefferson has played in Europe and has won two USBL championships with Dodge City. Williams was All-MAC First Team his senior year at Ball St. and has played the past two seasons in Hungary, Austria and Spain. Forward Caswell Cyrus (St. Bonaventure) was released two weeks ago and signed with the Buffalo Rapids.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
