Corpus Christi IceRays News Release

Prior to Saturday night's game the Corpus Christi Rayz waived forward Jason Bloomingburg, Rayz Head Coach Ken McRae announced. The move was made after two new additions were brought to the Rayz lineup. Forward Jay Latulippe and defenseman Matt Smyth were both acquired on Monday and will make their debuts Saturday against the Bucks. The Rayz needed to make a roster move to get their roster to 19 active players. Bloomingburg played in 11 games for the Rayz and was held without a point. He appeared in ten pro games in the ECHL at the end of last year and the beginning of this season.

Bloomingburg, 25, joined Corpus Christi on November 8th after appearing in four games for the ECHL's August Lynx. While there, the 5'10", 200 lbs. forward had one goal and nine penalty minutes. Prior to this season, Bloomingburg attended training camp with the Fresno Falcons, and last year played six games with the Alaska Aces, where he also tallied one goal. Before turning pro, the Canton, MI native played four seasons of collegiate hockey. Bloomingburg played as a freshman at Providence College, and then finished up his college career with three seasons at Wayne State. Bloomingburg finished in the top five in team scoring in each of his three years at Wayne State, and was second in points as both a sophomore and senior.
