Hounds fall to Kings on Saturday night

SOUTHAVEN, MISSISSIPPI - The Mississippi RiverKings defeated the Youngstown SteelHounds by a score of 5-1 on Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center. Aaron Davis recorded a hat trick for the RiverKings in the win.

Davis scored a power play goal at 19:15 to make it 1-0 after one period. The Hounds were able to tie it up thanks to Jeff Alcombrack's power play goal at 2:34 of the second period. It was Alcombrack's sixth goal of the season. Chris Richards and Jason Baird recorded the assists with Richards getting his 19th of the season and Baird getting his sixth assist in his last three games. Youngstown was 1-4 on the power play while Mississippi was 2-6 on the man advantage.

Davis led the charge for the Kings as he scored two second period goals to give himself his first career hat trick and make it 3-1 after two periods. He also recorded an assist on the night and now has 10 goals and 10 assists on the season.

The RiverKings scored two goals in the third period thanks to Ryan Campbell and Ryan Kindret to give the RiverKings the 5-1 win. Mississippi out shot the Hounds 30-29 for the game.

The Hounds finish the road trip 2-3-0 and are now 15-5-1 (31 points) overall this season. The RiverKings are 13-6-1 (27 points) and trail Youngstown by four points for first place in the Northeast Division. These two teams are 2-0-0 against each other this season and will meet in Youngstown for two on December 28th and 29th.

The Hounds return home for three games as they will play the Texas Brahmas on Wednesday the 12th, Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15. All games are 7:05pm starts and are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.
