The Stingrays lead the series 2-1. The Stingrays have won the last two games of the series and can eliminate the top seeded Columbia Inferno with their third straight victory. The Stingrays are 1-0 at home in the playoffs this season.

At The Coliseum: Two for Tuesday. Two for one upper level one tickets, two for one hot dogs and Cokes and two dollar beers.

The Stingrays faced one game five on their Kelly Cup run in 2001 and two game fives in their trip to the title in 1997. The Stingrays had their only win of the regular season against the Inferno in Columbia.

The Series:

Game One: Columbia jumped out to a 1-0 series lead when they scored the first four goals of the game and then skated to 4-1 victory. Barrie Moore netted the game winning goal for the Inferno, as Dustin Johner scored the only goal for the Rays in the loss.

Game Two: The Stingrays trailed 1-0 after one period of play, but turned the series around by scoring four unanswered goals on the way to a 4-2 victory to even the series. Mike Barrie beat Doug Teskey for the game winning goal early in the third period as Mike Jickling, Marty Clapton and Robin Gomez also recorded goals in the win.

Game Three. The Stingrays scored the games first goal when rookie Kevin Spiewak scored in the first period. After the Inferno scored the games next two goals, South Carolina came back when Curtis Huppe scored the equalizer in the third period and Mike Jickling had the game winner early in overtime.

The Team:

The Rays went to overtime to beat the Inferno in game three to take a 2-1 series advantage. A win tonight would send the Stingrays into the Southern Division Finals. The Stingrays struggled in the regular season against the Inferno with a record of 1-3-2. The Stingrays are the only team in ECHL history to win two Kelly Cups. The Rays won the cup in 1997 and 2001. Last season, South Carolina fell to the Pee Dee Pride in the first round in four games. As a franchise the Stingrays have a playoff record of 49-36. The Stingrays have been involved in 15 overtime games in the post season with a record of 8-7.

The Players:

Curtis Huppe paced the Stingrays offense against the Inferno this season with three goals and two assists. He has a goal and two assists in three playoff games against Columbia. Kirk Daubenspeck has started all three games against the Inferno in the post season. He has a record of 2-1 with a goals against average of 2.65. Ed Courtenay leads the Stingrays in points in the post season to this point with four assists. Mike Jickling and Mike Barrie each have a game winning goal in the series.
