Playoff series against Reading:

The Nailers trail their opening round best-of-five game series against the Reading Royals 2-1. The game-by-game series with the Royals is as follows:

Game 1: Reading 1 at Wheeling 3

Game 2: Reading 3 at Wheeling 2

Game 3: Wheeling 3 at Reading 4

Game 4: Tuesday, April 13 at Reading

Game 5: Wednesday, April 14 at Wheeling (If necessary)

Thursday, April 8 Reading 1 @ Wheeling 3

The Nailers fell behind 1-0 at 3:28 of the first period on a Jamie O'Leary goal from Chris Lynch. J.F. Dufour tied the game for the Nailers at 4:14 of the second period with J.C. Ruid and Bogdan Rudenko assisting. Steve Crampton gave the Nailers the lead at 2:23 of the third period with Brad Mehalko and Mark Kosick assisting. At 3:33 of the third period the Nailers ended the scoring on a Jake Ortmeyer goal. Dufour and Ruid assisted on the goal. Tyler MacKay made 30 saves on 31 shots for the win.

Friday, April 9 Reading 3 @ Wheeling 2

For the second game in a row the Nailers went down 1-0. David Masse scored at 5:42 from Kent Davyduke and Judd Medak for the only goal of the first period. Medak increased the Royals lead to 2-0 at 1:30 of the second period from Reagan Rome and Davyduke. Mark Kosick cut the Nailers deficit in half to 2-1 at 7:09. Steve Crampton and Eddie Pershin assisted on the goal. Mat Snesrud gave the Royals another two goal lead at 12:18 from Davyduke and Doug Nolan. Brad Mehalko scored at 6:48 of the third period to end the scoring. Kamil Kuriplach and Mario Larocque assisted on the goal. Tyler MacKay made 22 saves on 26 shots in the loss.

Saturday, April 10 Wheeling 3 @ Reading 4

For the first time in the series the Nailers scored the first goal to take a 1-0 lead. Brad Mehalko scored at 10:14 of the first period from Alex Rouleau and T.J. Reynolds. Reading scored three goals in the first eight minutes of the second period to take a 3-1 lead. Mark Kosick got the Nailers to within one goal at 3-2 at 18:10 of the second period. Steve Crampton and Mario Larocque assisted. Reading went up 4-2 at 18:32 of the second on a power play goal. Jake Ortmeyer scored a power play goal at 1:42 of the third period to end the scoring. Brendan Hodge and Eddie Pershin assisted on the Ortmeyer goal. Joe Exter made 22 saves on 26 shots in the loss.

PREVIEW OF UPCOMING NAILERS GAMES April 12-April 18

Tuesday, April 13 Wheeling @ Reading 7:05p.m.

The Nailers face elimination in Game 4 of the best-of-five opening round series against Reading. The Nailers will need to win to return home on Wednesday for Game 5.

Wednesday, April 14 Reading @ Wheeling 7:00p.m.

The Nailers will host Game 5 of the best-of-five opening round series against Reading, providing they win Game 4 in Reading.

Friday, April 16 Atlantic City/Peoria @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers will host Game 1 of the best-of-five second round series against the winner of the Atlantic City – Peoria first round series.

Saturday, April 17 Atlantic City/Peoria @ Wheeling 7:30p.m.

The Nailers will host Game 2 of the best-of-five second round series against the winner of the Atlantic City – Peoria first round series.
