
Rookie Hemingway Reassigned to Worcester (AHL) by St. Louis

Peoria, Ill. (April 12, 2004) â Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that rookie forward Colin Hemingway has been reassigned to the team's American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate â the Worcester IceCats â by their NHL parent club, the St. Louis Blues. Christie also announced that right wing Ken Goetz has been activated from the 30-day injured reserve.
Hemingway â a 6-foot, 195-pound native of Regina, Saskatchewan â was held without a point in two playoff games with the Rivermen to open the five-game, Northern Division Semifinals against the defending Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. He finished 2003-2004 with the Rivermen on a nine-game point streak with 16 points (9g, 7a) and a +13 plus/minus. Over two reassignments with Peoria this season, he posted 44 points (20g, 24a) and a +29 plus/minus (T-2nd among ECHL rookies) in 36 games.
An eighth round (221st overall) draft choice of the Blues in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Hemingway ranked second with the Rivermen in plus/minus and seventh in points, while being named Rivermen Rookie of the Year (as voted on by the players). The 23-year-old ranked first among team rookies in goals, assists and points. He was also named the Sher-Wood ECHL Player of the Month and the CCM ECHL Rookie of the Month for March 2004, while earning C&T Hockey Products ECHL Plus Performer honors â along with teammate Tyler Rennette â for the month of March with a +19 plus/minus.
Goetz, who was placed on injured reserve on March 7, racked up 201 penalty minutes (PIM) in 39 games between three teams in 2003-2004, ranking first on the Rivermen. The 26-year-old native of Newtown, Pa., picked up three points (1g, 2a) and 96 PIM (including 10 majors) in 13 games with Peoria.
The Rivermen host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in Game Three of the five-game, Northern Division Semifinals tonight with the series even at a game apiece. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Carver Arena. Game Four is tomorrow night, Tuesday, April 13. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Game Five (if necessary) would return the series to Atlantic City on Thursday, April 15 at 6:05 p.m. CT at Boardwalk Hall. For playoff tickets, fans may call 309-673-3200.
