Southwest Michigan Devil Rays News Release

BATTLE CREEK, MICH. -- A Southwest Michigan Devil Rays five-game winning streak pushed the team into the playoffs as the Eastern Division second half wild-card team after the West Michigan Whitecaps survived the surge to earn their second straight title Monday afternoon. The Rays swept the Swing of the Quad Cities while West Michigan ended a two-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Lansing.

The Devil Rays will host the South Bend Silver Hawks on Wednesday, September 7 at 6:35 p.m. at C.O. Brown Stadium in the first round of the Midwest League playoffs. The Rays will head to South Bend on Thursday, September 8 at 8 p.m. EST. The series would stay in Indiana if a third-game were needed on Friday, September 9 at 8 p.m. EST.

The second round of the postseason runs from Saturday, Sept. 10 through Monday, Sept. 12 if necessary. The home team is determined by better overall record. The Devil Rays have a better season record than Fort Wayne but finished one half-game behind West Michigan.

The Midwest League Championship series will start on Tuesday, Sept. 13 and last until Saturday, Sept. 17 if necessary. The Eastern Division team will host the first two games of the best-of-5 series.

Tickets are available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Devil Rays gift shop on Tuesday, Sept. 6 for Wednesday's game against the Silver Hawks.
