Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Visalia Rawhide rallied for some late runs on Thursday night, edging the Quakes by a final score of 4-3 at LoanMart Field.
Three wild pitches scored three Visalia runs over a two-inning stretch, giving the 'Hide the lead for good against Rancho reliever Brandon Neeck (1-4), as Visalia stopped Rancho's two-game winning streak to earn their first win in the series.
Rancho tallied the game's first run in the first, as Joe Vetrano singled home Kendall George for a 1-0 lead.
Quakes' pitching was strong early, as starter Patrick Copen retired all six men he faced in his home debut. Liam Doolan followed out of the pen and fired two hitless innings. Livan Reinoso tossed a hitless fifth, but gave up a game-tying homer to Sergio Gutierrez (5) in the sixth, evening the game at 1-1.
Visalia got two in the seventh, only to see the Quakes even the game again in the last of the inning against eventual winner Philip Abner (1-0).
The Rawhide took the lead for good in the eighth and then watched closer Kyle Amendt toss two scoreless innings for his third save to end it.
On Friday, Gabe Emmett (7-7) makes his final appearance of the regular season, as he'll take on Visalia's Wyatt Wendell (4-10).
