
Ravensbergen Earns 2nd Shutout to Propel Cougars Over Regina

REGINA, SK - The Prince George Cougars earned their 10th win of the season with a 4-0 blanking over the Regina Pats on Sunday at the Brandt Centre.
Rookie goaltender Josh Ravensbergen displayed exceptional skill and composure, earning his second shutout of the season with an outstanding 23 saves. The Cougars' offense was led by Terik Parascak, who notched two goals, while Koehn Ziemmer and Ondrej Becher each contributed a goal. Additionally, Zac Funk demonstrated exceptional playmaking ability, amassing three assists during the game.
The Cougars wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Koehn Ziemmer capitalizing on a breakaway opportunity off a feed from Riley Heidt in the opening period. Ziemmer slipped the puck through the legs of Regina's goaltender, Ewan Huet, to secure an early lead. Moments later, at 5:58, Zac Funk orchestrated a fantastic pass, finding Terik Parascak positioned at the back door, who netted the second goal, extending the lead to 2-0. Parascak showcased his scoring prowess once again at 11:42, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity to secure his 17th goal of the season, a league-leading feat. The Cougars dominated the shot count in the first period, outshooting the Pats 13-4.
The second period saw a flurry of action, although no goals were scored. The frame was marked by intense physical play and penalty minutes, including a thunderous hit delivered by Corbin Vaughan on Ondrej Becher, prompting Zac Funk to engage in a spirited bout with the Regina forward. Goaltender Josh Ravensbergen exhibited remarkable skill, making a series of crucial saves to maintain the 3-0 lead. The shots in the period favoured the Pats, with a count of 12-7.
In the final period, Ondrej Becher unleashed a powerful shot, marking his 10th goal of the season and extending the lead to 4-0 for the Cougars at 8:46. Ravensbergen continued to stand tall in the crease, providing a steady presence for the Cougars, ultimately securing their first victory on the Eastern road swing.
The Cats return to action Wednesday night to face the Brandon Wheat Kings at Westoba Place at 5:00 pm PDT.
