Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - Andrew Lambo drove in four runs to give the Great Lakes Loons an 8-1 lead Friday night against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The Rattlers chipped away at that big deficit on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium, but the Loons held on for the 8-6 win.

Great Lakes (15-26 second half, 45-65 overall) got to Timber Rattler starting pitcher Edward Paredes in the top of the third to score first. Francisco Lizarraga singled with one out and Paredes walked the next two batters to load the bases. An RBI grounder by Lambo drove in the first run of the game.

Paredes hit the next batter to load the bases again. Then, Brandon Taylor singled to center to knock in two runs. Alex Garabedian followed with an RBI single and the Loons were up 4-0.

Wisconsin (12-29, 43-64) got a run in the bottom of the third on a run scoring wild pitch by Great Lakes starting pitcher Justin Miller.

The Loons got going again in the top of the fourth. Paredes retired the first batter of the inning, but walked his fourth batter of the game and was pulled from the game. Rattler reliever Jose Jimenez was greeted rudely in his first Midwest League appearance. Jimenez, who joined Wisconsin on Thursday, gave up a single to Jovanny Rosario. A double steal and an error allowed the Paredes run to score for a 5-1 lead.

Lambo was next and he crushed a three-run homer to right for an 8-1 Great Lakes lead. The home run was the fifteenth of the season for the Loon designated hitter.

The Rattlers scored three times in the bottom of the fourth. Ron Garth tripled to right-center to drive in two runs. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Joe White. But, Miller settled down and made it through five innings to qualify for his first win since June 14.

Edilio Colina made the score 8-5 as he drove in a run with a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth. Joe Dunigan homered to deep right to lead off the bottom of the eighth inning and Wisconsin pulled to within 8-6.

In the bottom of the ninth, Israel Nunez singled with one out off Loon reliever Bobby Blevins. But, Blevins struck out the final two batters to preserve the win and get his fourth save of the season.

The series continues on Saturday night. Wisconsin has Juan Ramirez (4-8, 4.53) as the scheduled starting pitcher. Given Kutz (3-3, 4.06) is set to start for the Loons. Game time is 6:35pm.
