Phoenix, AZ - The Arizona Rattlers acquired OS Phil McGeoghan in the AFL's Expansion Draft, the team announced today. Arizona traded future considerations to the Nashville Kats in exchange for the 13th pick in the draft. McGeoghan (6-3, 215, Maine) was selected from the Dallas Desperados, where he was on the Other League/Exempt list.

"Phil is a player I tried to get when I was in New York," said Head Coach Todd Shell. "We had him rated as a top prospect at Wide Receiver out of all the NFL players we looked at."

McGeoghan was a standout receiver at Maine, ending up fourth on the school's all-time list in receiving yards and fifth in receptions. He spent two seasons at Maine, transferring there after Boston University dropped it's football program. McGeoghan has spent time with the New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Denver Broncos, and most recently the New Orleans Saints. He also played for the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe in 2002.

"Phil's a great route runner, and has good speed," said General Manager Gene Nudo. "He has extensive NFL exposure, and it really shows on the field. We believe he is going to be an impact player, and we couldn't be happier with this pick. This is a good trade for us, and it's a great opportunity to bring in a quality Offensive Specialist."

McGeoghan is expected to join the Rattlers when they open training camp for their 14th season in January.

The Arizona Rattlers will kick off their 14th season in January 2005. For ticket information call 602-514-TDTD or log on to www.AZRattlers.com.
