Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Crush had two players selected by the Nashville Kats in today's 2005 Arena Football League Expansion Draft. Crush wide receiver/defensive back Tony Scott was taken with the Kats' seventh pick in the draft, and Crush WR/DB Darcey Levy was taken four selections later with the 11th pick.

As a result, the Crush roster now stands at 28 players currently under contract for the 2005 season, with a maximum of 37 players that can be invited to training camp. AFL teams may begin signing free agents on Friday, October 1, and camp will begin in January.

Scott (5-10, 190, North Carolina State) appeared in six games with the Crush during his rookie season in 2004, totaling 12.0 tackles at defensive specialist while battling injuries that kept him on injured reserve much of the season. Levy (6-2, 198, Pittsburgh), a former Denver prep star at Montbello High School, never appeared in a game for the Crush, spending the 2004 season on the team's exemption list for players competing in other leagues.

Per league rules, each team was permitted to protect 16 players whose rights they control and all other players whose rights they control were deemed "unprotected" and hence eligible to be selected in the Expansion Draft. Fourteen Crush players were left unprotected, the second most of any team.

Defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats, lost a league-high five players, while the Crush, Dallas Desperados, Los Angeles Avengers, New Orleans VooDoo and Philadelphia Soul lost two players each.

The Colorado Crush kick off their third season in January and deposits for season tickets are currently being accepted. The Crush sales staff is available for renewals and new ticket deposits from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday at (303)-352-1000.
