ALBANY, NY-Zach Boychuk netted the game-winner late in the second period and River Rats goaltender Mike Murphy stopped 33-of-34 shots faced to hold-on for a 3-1 win over the Providence Bruins Saturday night at the Times Union Center.

Boychuk gained the blueline and rifled a shot past Bruins goaltender Dany Sabourin to break a 1-1 tie at 14:09 of the second period, and Nicolas Blanchard sealed Albany's sixth straight win with an empty net tally with 2.9 seconds left. The River Rats, who have earned points in their last eight games, take their streak to Hartford tomorrow for a 4:00 p.m. match-up with the Wolf*Pack.

Stefan Chaput scored the game's first goal on the power play at 12:36 of the first period, one-timing a sharp-angle blast under the cross-bar on the short side for a 1-0 River Rats lead; Boychuk and Bryan Rodney assisted on the play. The Bruins responded with a their only goal of the game at 17:41 on the power play, when team points leader Mikko Lehtonen snuck a wrist-shot past Murphy from the faceoff dot.

Murphy earned his sixth win of the season as Albany improved to 16-10-1-2 this season. Sabourin allowed two goals on 28 shots and took the loss the the Bruins fell to 15-12-1-0. Providence out-shot the River Rats 34-29 in the contest and went 1-for-1 on the power play; Albany was 1-for-4 on the man-advantage.
