Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Green Bay, Wis.-The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (23-43, 11-20) dropped an extra innings game to the Green Bay Bullfrogs (33-32, 16-14) by the score of 5-4. The Rafters fell to 4-3 in extra innings games this year after Franco Guardascione (Palm Beach State College) delivered the game- winning hit in the 11th.

Green Bay broke the ice on the ballgame wen they rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Rafters' starter Connor McClain (Central Arkansas) had retired the first two batters of the inning before allowing the two runs to score. McClain was still solid in his first start of the year as he only allowed the two runs in five innings while striking out three.

The Rafters began their comeback with a run in the top of the 4th before taking the lead in the 6th. Shawn Hagarty (Lindenwood) picked up the RBI in the 4th and singled in another run in the 6th. A Zack Domingues (Long Beach State) sacrifice fly gave the Rafters the lead but it would be short lived. Green Bay attacked the Rafters' bullpen for two of their own in the 6th to regain the lead.

It would not be until the top of the 8th when the Rafters would make things interesting. Nick Unes (UW- Milwaukee) would line a one out double to tie the game up. Each team would have their chances through the 9th and 10th before Guardascione hit the walk- off single in the bottom of the 11th.

The Rafters return home Monday for their final home stand of the season as they play five games over the next six days in the friendly confines of historic Witter Field. Monday's game will be Rapids Has Talent Night at the ballpark with first pitch slated for 7:05 pm.
