Alexandria Blue Anchors News Release

Alexandria, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to the Duluth Huskies Sunday, losing by a final score of 9-4.

Duluth got on the board first in the top of the second inning. Vinnie Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch for the first run. Duluth would continue the inning with some small ball, scoring three more on a pair of singles and an RBI groundout by Alex Michaels.

The Anchors answered back in the bottom of the fourth with a Kris Goodman leadoff home run. Three batters later, Jeremy Hyde smashed a two RBI homer over center field to make it 4-3 Duluth. Nehwon Norkeh would later steal third and then come home on a throwing error to make it a brand new ball game.

Duluth's Austin Darby would answer right back, swinging at the first pitch of the next half inning and send it over the right-center fence to retake a one run lead. Keach Ballard would then triple and be driven in on a sac fly to make it 6-4 Huskies. That would be followed by another Huskie home run by Vinnie Rodriguez to make it 7-4.

Duluth tacked on one more in the top of the seventh, scoring on an RBI single by Austin Christensen. In the eighth, the Huskies would get one more in similar fashion as Vinnie Rodriguez had an RBI single to leave it 9-4 Duluth entering the bottom of the eighth.

That 9-4 score would hold up as the Anchors were unable to rally in the later innings.
