Calgary Roughnecks News Release

The National Lacrosse League today announced Roughnecks forward Lewis Ratcliff has been named to the NLL All-Rookie Team.

Selected by the Roughnecks with the club’s fourth round pick (49th overall) in the 2001 National Lacrosse League entry draft, the Victoria BC native finished the season fifth in club scoring. In 14 games this season he notched 24 goals and 21 assists for 45 points. His 24 goals were second in rookie scoring only to Colorado’s Brian Langtry with 28 who was named NLL Rookie of the Year.

The NLL All-Rookie Team is comprised of the top six vote getters in the league’s Rookie of the Year voting. NLL awards are determined by a vote of the Governors, General Managers and Head Coaches of the twelve member clubs.

“Lewis has the potential to be a dominant player in this league for years to come, he has tremendous floor sense for a young player and his creativity offensively are already tough to match,” said Roughnecks head coach, Chris Hall.

Joining Ratcliff and Langtry on the All-Rookie team are New Jersey's Marc Morley, Rochester's Chris Schiller, Vancouver's Cam Sedgwick and Toronto's Aaron Wilson.

The NLL will announce its Defensive Player of the Year, Goaltender of the Year and Sportsmanship Award on Tuesday. On Wednesday Coach of the Year, Executive of the Year and GM of the Year awards will be announced followed by Most Valuable Player and the All-Pro Team (First and Second Team) on Thursday.
