Mammoth's Langtry Rookie of the Year
April 28, 2003 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Colorado Mammoth News Release
Denver, Colo. - A mammoth season just got bigger for Denver schoolteacher Brian Langtry. The Colorado Mammoth forward has been named the National Lacrosse League's rookie of the year and has been named to the league's All-Rookie Team.
Langtry leads scoring for players making the All Rookie Team. Langtry played in all but one game this season, racking up 28 goals and 34 assists for 62 points. He picked up 107 loose balls during the season, also a league-leading statistic for rookies.
And, while only regular season statistics are used in voting by the league's governors, general managers and coaches, Langtry's biggest game of the year came Saturday in the NLL semi-finals against the Toronto Rock when he scored a season-high seven goals.
Langtry was the NLL's rookie of the month for March 2003, and was named the league's rookie of the week three times in March (Weeks 13, 14, 15).
Joining Langtry on the All-Rookie Team are:
Marc Morley, New Jersey Storm, Forward (20g, 9a, 29 pts.)
Lewis Ratcliff, Calgary Roughnecks, Forward (24g, 21a, 45 pts.) Chris Schiller, Rochester Knighthawks, Defenseman (16g, 8a, 24 pts.)
Aaron Wilson, Toronto Rock, Forward (21g, 16a, 37 pts.)
Cam Sedgwick, Vancouver Ravens, Forward (16g, 32a, 48 pts)
Langtry played college lacrosse at Hofstra University and was drafted by the New York Saints in the sixth round of the 1998 entry draft before moving to Colorado. He signed with the Colorado Mammoth as a free agent prior to the beginning of this season.
