River City Rascals News Release

O'Fallon, MO - The River City offense was held to just five hits, and the defense committed three errors, en-route to a 6-2 loss to the RiverHawks in front of 4,031 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark.

Rockford struck first off Rascals' starter Justin Edwards (0-1) who surrendered a two-out single to Jet Butler who plated Brandon Anderson for one of his three runs scored. The Rascals (1-1) tied the game at one in the fourth. After Jeremy Synan doubled and moved to third on a passed ball, Charlie Lisk brought him in with a groundout.

Edwards got himself in trouble with two walks in the fifth inning and was charged with all three runs in the frame to give Rockford (1-1) a 4-1 lead. River City battled back in the fifth, but Lisk would strike out to strand the bases loaded and the RiverHawks would add another run in the sixth before the Rascals would add a run in the seventh to cut the deficit to 5-2.

Rockford added one run in the ninth for the final score of 6-2.
